by Izzy Paracuelles

at birth i was pushed into a unforgiving forest with nothing but shoes and a water bottle at best while others don’t even struggle to survive i’m out here in the woods getting eaten alive there’s hardly any flowers or big floppy leaves no mountaintop views dotted with pine trees barely any birdsong or even thundering rain no matter where i turn it all looks the same quicksand, bugs, all kinds of beasts bitter colds and blazing heats there’s rashes and sunburn and all sorts of bug bites and the thick thorny roots always put up a fight they shoved me in this wild, no guide or map expecting me to look around at this jungle and clap and when you think you’ve finally made it through the thicket there always comes price to pay with it
